    Hi All! I’ve been trying to figure out how the Milky Way was formed. It looks like a bunch of stars, but other than that I haven’t got a clue. I did figure out that a lot of the objects that Mssr. Messier has cataloged are actually made of stars as well.

    Oh, BTW – My son John recently discovered that sodium thiosulfate works great as a “fixer” for silver nitrate plates. Just thought I’d share.

    Bill – the Milky Way is a galaxy just like a lot of the Messier objects that you’ve been looking at. I have a theory that all the galaxies are part of a larger expanding universe. But I’ve not been able to prove it.

    Opps, I started my own thread instead of replying to Bill’s Thread. Can the Mods delete the other post?

    Ed – I have a theory on how all the galaxies can be moving away from each other. I think the universe is expanding!

    We all live inside a fish bowl and a very clever artist painted what we see on the out side HaHa!

    From the BNL philosophers;

    Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state
    Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started, wait
    The earth began to cool, the autotrophs began to drool
    Neanderthals developed tools
    We built a wall (we built the pyramids)
    Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries
    That all started with the big bang! Hey!

    Chris – I could swear I’ve heard that on TV before!
